I put the wrong kind of oil in my car! now what?

Exactly, if you are talking about different weights, such as 10W30 or 10W40 instead of 5W30 or 5W20, no big deal. The only caveat here is if you have a European car that has a spec oil such as BMW, Mercedes or VW/Audi. I'd change it soon, but you can probably go upto 3000 miles without drama. The European makes spec out oils than can last 10,000 to 15,000 miles.

Drain it and replace it.
If you mean 10w30 instead of 5w30 or something, it won't hurt anything.
