My car is a Dodge Neon 1997, lately the oil light keeps coming on.?

after i put in a quart a day.. I know a leak right? What do you do for this? Yousa! Is it expensiveMy car is a Dodge Neon 1997, lately the oil light keeps coming on.?
Your head gasket is leaking oil at the right rear corner of the engine. Those cars are famous for that problem. Just ask ANY Chrysler tech. Expect to pay about 6.5 hours of labour plus the head gasket KIT, which includes ALL gaskets needed for the repair from the CHRYSLER DEALER (not expensive). That will fix your problem. Hope this helps. My car is a Dodge Neon 1997, lately the oil light keeps coming on.?
Tahe it to a mechanic, also watch putting to much oil in that can cause just as many problems as being low.
You mentioned you put in a quart a day! Are you ';really'; low on oil when you do that or just adding it because of the light. If so then you might be way overfull and that is really bad. If you are well over the full mark the oil hits the crankshaft as the crank turns. This foams the oil up so much that the oil pump starts trying to pump foam. Foam ain't going to pump through that engine so the pressure drops to nothing even though you have ';too much'; oil in it. This trips theoil light naturally. Reason I am asking this is that a quart low will never trip an oil pressure light on a car as there is still plenty of oil and pressure there. If you are losing pressure either you are much lower on oil than you claim, have a bad engine with worn bearings and such, or way too much oil in it as I mentioned is a possibility. Be sure and check the oil with the motor off and after it has sat for a couple of minutes. Like others have mentioned an oil leak this major could be simple. Oil sending unit, which is the device that makes that light come on could simply be defective itself and leak. They are under up to 60 lbs of pressure and made of plastic so a tiny leak will leak a lot of oil in a short time. They are cheap and only take a few minutes to replace as well. Get somebody to check this as you don't want to ruin the engine either way. That light is telling you that you have no pressure and that you are damaging the engine running it like that when that light is on. Hopefully will be one of the easy to fix things that we have all suggested so far. If you are too full of oil have the excess drained out before cranking the car again. Good luck and hope you find the exact cause soon.
that leak you talk about, can be some thing simple, lile the oil pan bolts may need tightning, all the way up to a bad oil seal some ware.

I suggest you have a trusted mechanic take a look at it. A quart of oil a day is way to heavy of a consumption. Way too much.
