What will happen if there is too much oil in the cars engine?

i got a new car yesterday well it is a ford fiesta 1.8 Diesel,

i wanted to start it this morning and it would turn over and you can hear it just about to start then just carry on turnin over then it will try to start but wont, i check the oil and it was way over the max, should i drain this?

Any idea's???What will happen if there is too much oil in the cars engine?
if you know how to drain it then leave it for at least 15 Min's to drip, and put it in level after carefully checking.

i am afraid your head gas kit is not blown, signs are when you open lid from the top and it gives you yellow or cream colour with oil. finger cross its not the case, when you say it was way over then i thought if it was tuned at auto shop. they are not crazy to do it.

I was wondering if your coolant was on level and there are no warning signs when you turn the car ignition. check and keep it updated with us or call some one who knows close to you. What will happen if there is too much oil in the cars engine?
I dont think too much oil will stop it from starting but it may blow out over your engine through the filler cap or an engine seal. If its trying to start you could try encouraging it with a squirt of ';easy start'; up through tha air intake. Could be a dodgy injector or heater plug get it checked. Or even an air lock.
have you checked the cam belt it happened to me the engine will turn over but wont start,if it is cam belt dont start it at all you will do untold damage if you all ready haven't.good luck
the car should burn it off
you will break the car
Ya man u def need to empty the oil pan its not hard the drain plug will be right under the engine but if u do that dont forget to get urself a new oil filter that will also be around the same area also when filling the car back up with oil put like 1.5-2quarts in start it let it run for like 5secs than shut it off check oil level and add more or u could just drain it but not all the way ANYWAYS if u dont u will most likely blow ur head gasket and those can suck happend to my Porsche learned a good lesson though : )
Same thing happened to my car ages ago (Vauxhall Corsa) and it had to be towed away and I was given a courtesey car while they sorted it out. You got full com insurance? if so it will be sorted for free
get it drained to proper level, chech glow plugs are all ok,if new contact dealer first!!!!!!!!
You say ';Way over the Max'; I presume you ran it home, so it runs OK !!!!

Why would it be over the Max NOW ???

Is it a NEW car or new to you????

I suggest you get in touch with whoever sold it to you, %26amp; say what you said here.

If you start messing about %26amp; there is a guarantee, it will be ';Void';.
You need to let the oil settle and check it again because turning the engine over will have moved it around and may give you a false reading on the dipstick.

Having too much oil in a diesel engine can cause the engine to blow its seals and damage it beyond economical repair.

If it is turning over and not starting it could have air in the fuel and that will prevent it from starting.
I think that, after the engine has turned while trying to start, you need to wait for the oil to settle before you can get an accurate reading.

But you don't want excessive oil in the system as it can cause gaskets to blow
Yah you should drain it. While your at it you might as well change the oil filter and oil. If you have too much oil in your engine it will cause any number of problems. Not the least bit is the oil will foam and you won't get proper oil flow and protection. I am guessing there could be oil in your cylinder. which will drain out slowly and then your engine should start up. That is if you haven't blown out your gasket rings.

See diesels work by compressing the air to create enough heat to ignite the fuel. Diesels run at much higher pressures then Gas engines. If there is oil in the cylinder it won't compress like air and will take up room. The lower remaining volume will cause even higher air pressure and gaskets tend to be the first to go. I hope that isn't your problem. If your gaskets are intact then the oil could be trowing off the air fuel ratio. Who knows.

So drain it to the proper level let it sit for a good while and check it again, you may need to drain it again.

Then try to start it. If it doesn't start hook up some jumper cables because your batteries might be low. Still not working it might be your fuel. Bad flow, clogged filters, dirty injector who knows. All said diesels are pretty tough. Keep your fingers crossed and good luck.
