It is very risky to drive a long distance with a bad oil leak. You risk severe engine damage. If you do not let it get more than a quart low at a time, you should be ok- but if you are adding oil every 100 or so miles, don't risk it. Get it fixed first or you will end up halfway home with a ruined engine.I have a 2001 pointiac grand prix and i have a serious oil leek. if i keep putting oil in it will my car be ok
You might try to put stop leak in it sold at any auto store.
Depending on the leak you could put some rtv silicone sealant from your nearest auto parts store around the leak after you clean the area to fix it temporarily.Again, depending on where the leak is at.You can drive a car as long as you want but,you have to keep a good level of oil in it or if you don't your motor will lock up and you will need to rebuuild or replace your motor.
If its a rear or front seal you might not make it home but as long as you keep oil in it you should be ok
Not likely from a head gasket.

If somebody had a rocker cover off for some reason they might have damaged the gaslet and not bothered fixing it. Look to see if it is leaking from the rocker cover.

If that is the case the fix is failrly cheap and easy. You could even do it yourself.

Take the rocker cover off. scrape off the old solocone. make sure the surfaces are not oily. Put on a new bead of silicone.

Noe wait for that to start to skin over and set a bit, but before it hardens all the way, put you rocker cover back on and screw it down. (But don't bolt down real hard, just firmly, you want the silicone to make a gasket, not just squeeze it all out.)
is it leaking from valve cover or a line or the oil pan we need more info man
where is it leaking from? How far is home?

Not enough info.....
