If a car is real low on oil...?

Will that make the car not want to start (not turn over) or slow to start? If a car is real low on oil...?
it can make it turn over real slow, its best to keep it full of oil if possible this will help save the engine in it,other wise you can damage it and it may not be fixable either, good luck.If a car is real low on oil...?
good ,im glad its ok. Report Abuse

yes it could. sone engines wont even turn over if too low on oil.
Yes it will...Add oil right away before using the car again or you will wreck the engine.
It sure can happen, check the oil and add some.

It could also be the cables, or the main red cable is loose.

If all else fails , its the alternater(the starter)
No, it will start and run fine until metal on metal contact causes such heat parts warp and seize. Then it does not turn over at all. If it slow to start or turn over, there can be many causes, such as low battery, poor contact, etc. Of course, if you check the oil, and it is real low, you don't turn the key until you add oil.
Yes it will and it will damage or sieze the engine.

But what your describing could also be a battery or starter problem.
UMMMMM yeah!!!! Plus it will tear up the motor!!! Hurts it each and everytime you try to start it! ADD SOME OIL BEFORE YOUR CAR DIES!!!!
Usually low oil level will NOT cause the car to turn over slowly; I think you're looking at a weak battery, bad starter or possibly a bad cable connection (check and clean the cables first).
You have 1 or 2 good answers as relates to power issues for starting.

First of all, an engine will ';turn over'; with absolutely no oil in it. I have seen this done by mechanics while testing an engine. Not a good idea to start it in that condition, but it can be, and is done by those who know what they are doing.

Pull the oil dip stick, wipe it off, re-insert it, then pull it out again, and look at the end of it to see where the oil film is in relation to the markings to see if it does in fact need oil. If it does, add some, but do not over fill it. Adding oil is not a cure all for engine problems. In point of fact, to much oil can make problems worse, or cause new ones, such as destroying gaskets and costing you more than you could imagine.

The starter is a motor used to spin the engine crankshaft to start the engine. This little motor makes everything in the engine move as it does when the engine is running in order to start the engine. It is NOT the alternator. The alternator is the small round thing at the front of the engine with a ';fan belt'; that goes over the pulley on it. The alternator provides the electrical power needed to keep the car running, as well as to recharge the battery.

The slow starting could be caused by bad cable connections, a weak battery, a bad starter motor, bad plugs, a slipped timing chain or belt, a cracked or bad distributor cap if the engine uses one (some vehicles use an ignition coil assembly that serves 1 or more plugs-it is controlled by the computer). A dirty air filter can interfere with starting because it can make the fuel mix to rich, thus flooding the engine with gasoline. The injectors could be bad, if so equipped, or anything associated with the fuel delivery system. So, you have a number of things to check. Do not assume a cause, know what the cause is, unless you simply want to make things worse.
have to agree with kiffin
sounds like you nearly blew the motor
Sounds like a week battery or starter..

Low oil possibly could do that but it depends on how low and how long you ran it being low. Chaces are though it is your battery or starter.
yup. that can mess up your car. get some oil in it before you move it again.
