How fo you convert your car to driving vegetable oils instead of gasoline.?

Haha, I wanna go green. How fo you convert your car to driving vegetable oils instead of gasoline.?
There is two ways you need to approach this, First you need to know what engine you have, either a petrol engine or a diesel engine.

Most of stories you hear about cars running on vegetable oils and used frying oil relate to diesel engines.

Petrol engines can run on what鈥檚 know as ethanol, most mainstream petrol retailers now sell ethanol blended fuel but this does not always suit all petrol engines. This is the only real way of substitute petrol in a petrol engine.

Diesel engines on the other hand will run on any oil based fuel, examples are, Common Diesel, Marine Diesel, Heavy oil, vegetable oils, used cooking oils and kerosene.

Please take note that most countries charge a fuel excise or tax, if you use or make your own fuel you will be liable to pay a tax on the fuel equal to what the normal fuel tax is.... there is a way you can get around this, Note in the UK fuel duty would not have to be paid if you add 30% of standard Diesel purchased from a retailer where tax or duty is added to the price, so 70% of your oil of whatever description and 30% of normal diesel tax paid..

Now this is not as easy as it seems, diesel is very fluid and has a very low viscosity, to put it another way its very thin and not like porridge. Your used oil, vegetable oil will be thick depending on where you sourced it from. if your sourced oil is fairly thin try mixing it with diesel 50 50 and see if a small amount seems as thinned out as the original diesel.

If your running used cooking oil or the heavy oil these will both be in a near solid state at about 15c to 20c and below. the trick is to have a heating unit, kits are available all over the net. Its a fuel tank with a heating element inside, you simply drive along and when the cooking oil tank reaches 100c you flick a switch and the car starts running on the heated cooking oil instead of your normal fuel.

The used cooking oil is the way to go as for one its usually free, new unused vegetable oil you could use straight in the tank but I think you may find its probably more expensive than a litre of diesel.

You need to have a good source of waste cooking oil this is the main tip... and a good friend as a mechanic to fit a cooking oil fuel tank in you car..

I hope this answers your question..

Good luckHow fo you convert your car to driving vegetable oils instead of gasoline.?
You don't. You can use bio-diesel in a diesel engine, not a gasoline one unless you are looking to ruin the engine.
