what are the differences? i noticed my car smoking white last time, and i do not have money to fix it for now, so what is the best motor oil i should go with? its got around maybe 110k 115k miles japanese import 4 poper doh cam and runs hot because of weather here as well as driving, right on overheat range so whats best for my car?Motor OIL 10-30 10-40 5-30 VS racing oil vs sinthetic vs semi sinth. what oil for what car?? mines +100k miles
Continue to use manufacturers recommendation for oil type, and change it regularly. I highly recommend synthetic oil, as it lubricates better and can extend oil change intervals. Personally, I have four cars in the family and I use Mobil 1 5w-30 changed at 10k miles in all four.





White smoke, on the other hand, is a big concern! Make sure your car is not low on coolant as white smoke indicates steam, which results when the engine is taking in water; probably from the cooling system (leaky head gasket or cracked cylinder head.....). Make sure the radiator pressure cap and the thermostat are correct ratings and working properly. If it's been a while, have the cooling system flushed and tested for leaks. Have the cap and thermostat tested too. You should not be running that hot on a steady basis. Overheating will cause the head to warp and crack.....

20-50 would work best in hot temps.
use 20-w-50


anything with the w in it has detergents within and keep your engine clean.


if you have a smoker, its time for rings and maybe valves.
The white smoke explains several things. Usually white smoke is an indication that water is getting into the combustion chamber, its steam. This could be caused by bad seals, or cracks in either the head or engine block. The bad seals are moderately expensive depending on which one is bad. The cracks are very expensive.





Right now oil is the least of your problems. With it running hot, I would recommend 10 - 40. Keep the water level in your car full and use a coolant, to keep the temperature down. Have someone check the cooling system you could have other problems as well.
