I have a 93 Mustang GT,51,000 miles, and I presently use 10-40 conventional oil,,I would like to change to Mobil 1 full synthentic oil,I only put on about 500 to 1,000 miles a year,,would the change of oil be okay/bad,,and whyCar Guy question about oil types?
Take a look at your owners manual and check out the type suggested.
Some motors don't like the man made stuff...
From the amount of driving mileage you could make the switch. If your the type that likes to %26lt;gas it%26gt; you can go with a part synthetic that is made by Mobil 1.
It is very important you check your manual before you make the final call.
Also type in motor oil/auto the amount of info will help make up your mind for the best suited for your application.Car Guy question about oil types?
The makers of Mobil 1 say that thee's no problem in using theie product in an engine that previously has used conventional motor oil. But you will want to have two shortened intervals between oil changes -- one at 2,500 miles and one at 3,500 miles -- before returning to your usual 5,000-mile oil-change interval.
the mobil 1 synthetic oil was designed to be used for extended drain intervals, increased protection against thermal breakdown on vehicles that are running alot getting pushed to their limits. I prefer royal purple oil and k%26amp;n oil filters, mobil 1 just doesn't live up to what it claims to be... If you want to switch over then go for it. Why so many miles a year??? LOL Is it a weekend strip/track car? I say get
royal purple they have racing grade motor oil!
Conventional oil is made up of molecules of all varying sizes. Synthetic is made up of uniform particles that are all small compared to conventional. This will increase your chance of an oil leak down the road.
It wont hurt your car.
