I have a SLK 230 Kompressor, why is my car leaking oil into my garage now and I drove even less this year than I did for the previous years that I have owned it?I have a mercedes sports summer car...I have put it in the garage for years...why is my oil leaking this year?
Loonatic is right. What he didn't tell you is that it's probably going to cost you a pretty penny to get it fixed. No doubt, with the gaskets dried out, we're talking about a vehicle that's at least a few years past any warranty. There also little doubt you'll be doing the repair yourself, if you didn't know you need to run a sitting car every so often.I have a mercedes sports summer car...I have put it in the garage for years...why is my oil leaking this year?
First off yu have a great car, i have one myself,
hopefully you go out and start it once a week ad let run.
the oil gasket around your oil pan may be cracked or worn,
you can try tightening the oil pan bolts, but ive found running the car at least once a week until warmed up let the seals and gaskest expand thus preventing oil leaks..
Sometime it's not good to let a car sit with out starting it. It could be a oil pan gasket ,valve cover gasket ,oil cooler.Gaskets %26amp; rubber hoses rots when a car sits.
Cars don't like to sit for long periods of time. Seals will dry out and leak.
What colour is the oil? If it's a golden colour to brown or black, it is engine oil. If it is red, it is transmission fluid ( a common problem on those cars is the transmission diagnostic plug seals. It is a relatively easy and cheap fix to replace the plug ).
IF you don't go out and start it every so offen the gaskets dry out and leak, its not good for a car to sit
change the filter and the oil pump seal.
