The pressure is whats forcing the oil out. Thats why no leak when the truck is off.
First culprit is the filter. Make sure it is not cracked at the edge and that it is placed correctly.
cheers
My car is leaking oil from below but only when its running? What could messed up?
If it doesn't leak when turned off, you pretty much know it's not a hole in the oil pan. It leaks when pressured up. So what could it be? Loose filter, bad valve cover gaskets come immediately to mind. I guess the big question is, where is it coming from? If it's leaving oil puddles, it should be fairly easy to see where it's coming from.
Or alternatively, fill it with oil and drive directly to your mechanic, explain what it's doing, and get it fixed.
if you had a recent oil change check for 2 gaskets on the oil filter. and if you have to gaskets go to whoever did your oil change and make them pay to clean your driveway, add in about 4 free oil changes. and do not remove the filter till they see it.
it might be the crankshaft seal or the oil pan gasket. also it might be coming from the valve pan gaskets and running down.
think about it!
what happens when the engine is on?= drives the oil pump that pumps oil around engine!
answer= you have a blown gasket or oil seal! where there is oil pressure
A leak. Maybe just a loose filter, or something worse. Do not drive it with no oil pressure, you will ruin the engine.
Make sure the oil filter is tight. check the oil lines to the cooler
