check the vin and see if its european, if it is, its probably missing its canoodler valve.Lost all engine oil while driving down road under car some where cant find leak diesel musso 2.9 l turbo 5cyln?
one ,check oil level and refill to max.
NEVER crank an engine with no oil in sump.
there are several options for oil to leak? but did this happen suddenly or was Oil being slowly leaked or burnt ? thus giving you a very low oil level?
if there is an oil leak ,Diesel oil when used will be black and easy to see as a 'wet' patch on engine etc ( or road).
start engine when you have refilled d it an let it idle for 2-3 Min's, check under bonnet and on floor for any leaks or oil droplets on floor.IF ? any stop engine and locate source.(wet patch) you may have to clean engine etc down if oil is everywhere.
if NO oil is noted leaking etc then it may have 'burnt' or used all the oil, a faulty turbo will burn oil this way fairly easily. blue heavy smoke from exhaust is a good indicator here.
assuming you have found leak? =fix it.
if no leak found? then drive vehicle slowly for a short journey and recheck level and for leaks. gradually extend checks and journey times and speeds until normal driving is again achieved.
if? oil stays same level then simply you have failed to keep it topped up. if? oil burns off? then you have to seek further assistance eg possible Turbo change. internal oil leaks will get 'burnt', external will leak on engine or road.
check the seals in the turbo, oil is routed to the bearing
between the fans of the turbo and if a seal is bad it could
pump the oil right into the engine.
leaking slightly main seal
Might sound silly, but aside from the main seal...did you check to see if your oil pan plug missing?
Also, if you lost all your oil...don't mess around with cranking your engine/trying to kick it over. That's just not smart.
I can't imagine why you can't find the leak? Did you refill the oil and look? If it's the main seal you'll see it pouring out right after you start the engine.
there is a smoke or not
Rear main seal can leak and then pour oil out if it is bad enough.
you need to put the oil back it and run it to find the leak if you can not see it now.
There are only 3 options here and it's that simple:-
1 Leakage, in which case you would have 6 litres of black, sooty oil (it's a diesel) all over the chassis and underside of the vehicle. It would literally be dripping.
2 Burning oil. Your engine would have to be quite worn but this is a likely scenario because the smoke from the burning oil could be hidden by the naturally smokey diesel exhaust. A blocked crankcase breather or faulty PCV system will cause oil burning on a diesel, too.
3 The engine was not filled properly in the 1st place with enough oil.
It has to be one of these scenarios. I'd go for number 2, especially if you don't check your oil all the time, you can suddenly find it empty.
buy a new car
First off look to make sure the drain plug is still in the oil pan then look to see if the oil filter fell off, then look for harder stuff like rear main seal and so on.Not knowing the miles its hard for anyone to say the rear main is bad look at what I said first.
